Retrato expresivo de Lucía C., 6 julio 2011.

 He aquí el último retrato que he pintado, el pasado miércoles 6 de julio. También es un trabajo del natural. Lucía me estuvo posando durante cerca de tres horas.

Después lo retoqué un poco, como siempre, a partir de la documentación fotográfica que suelo tomar para archivar el trabajo en mi ordenador.

He decidido comenzar una investigación plástica en el retrato. Mi modelo se prestó feliz a ello.

Como se puede apreciar, el tratamiento técnico es totalmente diferente: grandes manchas, dinamismo en el trazo, "churretes", transparencias muy sañaladas... tiene un aspecto inacabado, tanto que me estoy comiendo las uñas para no trabajarlo más. El hecho es que no puedo.

Lucía casi me lo quitó de las manos, se lo llevó la misma tarde en que lo pinté. Está encantada con él; me miraba a regañadientes mientras lo retocaba. Lo cierto es que le veo muchos defectos, pero también tiene una gran virtud, el dinamismo. Parece que la protagonista está en el centro de un vendaval, mirando confiada y limpiamente a la cámara. Lo aprecio primaveral y arrebatado, impulsivo.

Puede estar bien incorporar estos elementos a mi trabajo.

This pastel was painted on last wednesday, sixth in july. Lucia was posing to my for three hours approximately.

After that in the same sesion,  I put up some details using the photographs which I use to make as documentation of the process. I´m starting a plastic investigation around the portrait, trying to depure my own painting style. And my model was happy posing for it.


Technical treatment of this painting is completely different from before ones: big spots of color, dynamic lines, marks, distinguished transparencys... all of these elements show an unfinished appearance, so much, that I got nervous because of my perfeccionism.

In fact, it isn't posible for me to improve the portrait, because the model Lucia was so glad whith the work when it was finished, that she carried it with her when left my studio.

So I haven't got the portrait yet. It's the first time I do this, to give the job without a further reflection. But I want to improve the accuracy of anathomical drawing and to incorporate some flexibility into my style, so maybe what hapenned some days ago in my studio is the good option.
I think that this painting shows a big dinamysm; the client seems to be in the centre of a tornado, even though she is looking at the camera clearly and confiately. It seems a quite spring and impulsive painting.

 Este es retrato lo hice a principios de junio, si bien lo he tenido unas semanas en reposo en mi taller.

Alicia también posó del natural durante tres horas. Después he trabajado el resultado sin estar ella presente, para aportar los detalles anatómicos que se me habían escapado.

De este retrato me gusta la fuerza que transmite, la presencia del rostro y de la mirada. Alicia ha sido exigente y he dado bastantes vueltas al trabajo hasta llegar a esto.

This portrait was painted the last fourth in june, but it was in my studio for two weeks more.

Alicia posed from natural  for three hours. And after that, I was working on the portrait to build the anathomycal details that I hadn't seen before.

I like this portrait because of it strength, I think it has a powerfull presence.
